FIND A PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICE

Volunteers are essential to Palliative Care ACT; without them we would not be able to deliver our services, raise funds or support palliative care initiatives in the ACT.

Currently there are approximately 200 volunteers who bring their life experiences, energy and skills to assist with the support of patients and their families who are receiving palliative care. The retention rate for volunteers is very high; some have been with us for many years. All enjoy what they do and gain great personal satisfaction from helping the terminally ill.

All new volunteers undertake a comprehensive initial training program to provide them with the knowledge, confidence and compassion to care for the dying. Additional specialist training is provided when necessary e.g. for life story writing.
